It all begins with dog psychology.
In the history of canines, domestic and wild, like with every other wild animal in the world, there is always a chain of command. With dogs/wolves it’s the Alpha. This includes many other species as well. Following that would be the pack. If the leader of the pack doesn’t take care of and remain in charge of the pack and the decision making, death, starvation, and fighting is imminent.
How did the alpha keep everyone safe you ask? Well through basic dog/wolf psychology. Do we ourselves use our hands and/or mouth with our dogs to get our point across? Absolutely not. So, what is balance training then? Balance training is balancing yourself out as the leader, with physical correction and physical praise. In the wild, and domestic breeding situations, mom would grab her puppies by the scruff of the neck, growl and shake for correction. She would also move them that way. She would lick and clean them for praise. She never once went out of her way to take down an animal and rip little pieces of flesh off to give to her puppies as a reward. It was very important that they listened no matter what so she could keep them alive, safe and healthy.
We have prided ourselves in using dog psychology, as well as a very balanced technique to appropriately and properly communicate with our dogs, as well as helping our clients do the same. We as people sometimes forget that our dogs are not people, but animals, and will act accordingly. That does not mean we don’t love them as family! It simply means, we need to get back to their roots and learn how to do better for them in ways that they understand!
